Kurin Lock is used for collecting blood samples for blood culture. The innovative aspects are that the technology diverts and isolates the first flash (about 0.15 ml) of blood, which may contain contaminants that can lead to a false-positive blood culture result. The intended place in therapy would be when samples for blood culture are needed, as an alternative to standard collection methods.
